Elon Musk is now 3 times richer than Warren Buffet

Elon Musk is still the richest man in the world. He is obscenely and unbelievably rich. And there are outrageously expensive things he can do with 300 billion dollars, and still not run out of money.

In November last year Forbes reported that Elon Musk’s wealth rose to $300 billion dollars, the first person in history to achieve this. This is more than an achievement, it's simply boggles the mind.

On Tuesday, the 4th of January his wealth rose to $304 billion after Tesla reported a quarterly record for vehicle deliveries and the company share price rose with 14% on the New York Stock exchange.

Tesla delivered more than 936 000 vehicles in 2021. That’s a massive increase of 87% from the previous year when it delivered almost 500 000 vehicles for the entire year.

In the fourth quarter of 2021 Tesla delivered 308 600 vehicles. This number exceeded the average analyst estimate of roughly 263,000 vehicles.

Tesla considers a car as delivered only once it has been transferred to the customer and all the paperwork has been concluded, which means the total amount of delivered vehicles could be slightly higher than the number indicated in the quarterly report of the delivery numbers.

This is an extraordinary feat in view of the semiconductor chip shortages and logistical issues world wide that have negatively impacted vehicle manufacturers.

China leads with the the biggest demand for electrical vehicles, where 400 000 electrical vehicles were registered in November 2021 alone.

But what does this mean for Elon Musk to have so much money?

His wealth is greater than the annual GDP of countries such as Finland, Vietnam and Chile and it almost matched the GDP of South Africa, his country of birth. GDP is used to track the value of all goods and services produced over a specific time period within a country’s borders. Elon Musk is worth more than all the goods and services produced in a country with just almost 60 million people, as in the case of South Africa.

What can you do with 300 billion dollars?

Most of us dream of a few millions to have a dream lifestyle and to never have to worry about money ever again. Financial freedom would mean to drive our dream car, live in our dream home, to provide for our families and our children, to be debt free, buy expensive clothes and go on expensive holidays.

But with $300 billion you can dream so high that you can literally go beyond the stars. Your only limitation will be your imagination.

You have unlimited options:

You can buy Buckingham Palace for 6.7 billion dollars if you really want to live in the lap of luxury and want a piece of history.

You can buy a Bugatti La Voiture Noire  for  $18 million. It was the most expensive car in 2021 and can reach a speed of 62mph in 2.4 seconds, which is almost almost 100 kilometers per hour in 2.4 seconds.

Now that you’ve got your house and the car sorted, where can you shop to get the best and most exclusive shopping experience?

You can relieve yourself of some of the money at the Champs Elysées in Paris, Fifth Avenue in New York or Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. You will be surrounded by luxury designer brands where everything will whisper exclusivity, wealth and style, and of course, expensive.

If you’re looking for a luxury holiday destination you can visit Dubai, Bali or Seychelles.

But if you’re looking for the most expensive holiday destination, then Paris tops the list, followed by the Fiji Islands and New York.

You can buy a private jet, or two or three ranging from $2 million dollars. Or you can be really bold and splash out on a customised Airbus A380 for $500 million , and still have plenty of cash left.

You can buy a super yacht for almost $20 million, but why not go really big and get the biggest yacht for 350 million dollars?

Have you always dreamed owning your own private piece of land somewhere warm and exotic? You can
buy an island in the Bahamas, Belize or the Caribbean for up to 30 million dollars, and be on holiday for the rest of your life.

How about going to space if an island doesn’t do it for you? You can pay $28 million if you with Nasa and up $450 000 to go to space with Sir Richard Branson?

$1 billion in hundred dollars weigh approximately 100 tons; 300 billion dollars would weigh 3000 tons.

To paint a clearer picture of how much money $300 billion is really is, picture the following:

1 000 F-250 weighing 3tons to each

1 000 fully loaded elevators

1 200 white rhinos weighing 2.5 ton each

The tongues of 1 000 blue whales

There is no way you can wrap your mind around so much money, but you can always imagine what you could do with it.

You can also do so much good with all that money without it making a dent in your pocket.

Some of the world’s top economists has researched that an annual investment of $3 billion dollars could reduce malnutrition in developing countries by up to 36%. They believe it could save more than 100 million children from starvation.

Investing another $2 billion dollars every year in agricultural research and development will increase global food security, protect biodiversity and prevent deforestation.

It would also take about $60 billion dollars to save the Great Barrier Reef in off the coast of Queensland in Australia, in the Coral Sea. The Reef is under threat due to climate change.

But if you just want live frugally when you have $300 billion dollars at your disposal, and say you only want to spend $1 000 each day it will take you about 822 000 years before you run out of money.

Having this much money will allow you to buy the most expensive and most exclusive art; you can become the owner of any of the sports club that you admire, or you can pay for the education of many students for years to come.

These are just some of the things you can do with an unlimited budget. I just wonder how does it feel to have so much money and never having to worry about it ever again.
